5 Things You Need To Start Making Money Online
Have you ever heard that you only need a computer with internet connection to make some money online? Sounds crazy?
According to Forrester Research, over a billion computers worldwide will be in use by the end of 2008. It will double by 2015. If half of it will have internet connection, then that’s quite a number for potential people earning money online. But the fact is only a few have success to make six-figure income. Another number of people are earning just enough and many are struggling. If you’re one of those struggling, don’t be in despair. Let’s have a reality check on what do we really need – without the hype.
“Making money online”, “online business” – whatever you call it - it needs a computer with an internet connection – hence the word “online”. It’s a given. So what (else) do we really need?
1. Proper Mindset
Let’s digest it further. “Making” is an action word (from Making Money Online) and having a “business” (from Online Business) requires some form of work. With this we can all conclude that making money online can’t be for the lazy or for those who wish to get rich in a few weeks, days or hours. In a nutshell, here’s what we need to put in our minds:
- If you really don’t like computers or the internet, please STOP. Do not read any further because this is not for you.
- There’s no free money just for sitting around
- Even the easiest way to earn needs some action on your part
- The internet is an ever changing medium. What’s working today may not work tomorrow.
- With reference to the preceding idea, if things always change, learning the next big thing is required.
- If you can win, you may also lose. In an ideal world, everybody wins to earn money. But we are in the real world. Let’s accept that fact.
- There are SCAMS. Do not immediately believe what has been told to you by a so called guru.
- Fear of losing will never take you anywhere online. Be positive, learn from the experience and take action. The money will come in time
2. Social Media
Ever heard of a blog, a lifestream, Twitter or FaceBook? These are the mediums today where you can connect with people and provide value. This in turn will give you a high trust level. Nobody will join an opportunity with you or buy your product or maybe your services if there’s no trust. With all these said, you can see that you need to have some or any of the following:
- A site or a blog with good content with the readers or customers in mind. Good content is value.
- Have a Twitter or Facebook to connect with people
- Or maybe join active forums where you can provide help and sell your stuff.
Do you really need this? Imagine: You have a product or service to sell or maybe you have an opportunity that will let you earn money thru a referral system. All of these need people. And you need a system to interact with people. This is where social media will come in. But you may ask: I can go to my relatives and friends and their friends and relatives. That may work but you are limiting yourself to more possibilities. And besides, what’s the point of getting most of your customers offline if your business is online? Don’t you want your business to still work while you sleep?
3. Payment Processors
You need some way to receive money easily. Potential customers are around the globe. Register to one or all of the payment processors below. It’s totally FREE.
Do you need a credit card? At some point, yes, but you can start without it.
4. Enough Information
There is a lot of information that you can find online. It will overwhelm you. It is so difficult to decide which works or not. You can keep on reading lots of stuff but it will just eat your time and not let you start. But you don’t need to know all the technical stuff on how to build a website or a blog just to start. There are platforms that you can use and some are even free. What you can do is to subscribe to our feeds and whenever there’s something cooking, it will be delivered to your e-mail inbox. :)
As we move along into the future, we will tackle making money thru sites or blogs, using social media, driving traffic and building a list and the related stuff. These and programs that will make money for you are the content that you can expect.
5. Investments
Is everything for free?
One way or the other you need to invest on time. Learning is another and if you’re going to acquire some expert training from a coach then you need money. This is what I’m doing and this is the recommended path to take.
Are you planning on doing videos in your site and do you already have the equipment you need?
Then you need some money again.
While it is true that there are programs that are free to join and earn while doing some easy work, it won’t take you that far. If your goal is to make this a living to pay not just for your meals and bills, then you have to exert some more effort and invest.
